Retro Handheld: Anbernic Announces RG 34XXSP with Two Joysticks

Last year, Anbernic launched the RG 35XXSP. Now, the retro console specialist is releasing a slightly smaller version of the handheld with two joystick controllers, which appears under a new name and a slightly modified interior.
The two additional controllers are attached to the lower edge of the case below the already known controllers, which raises the question of how well the RG 34XXSP fits in the hand and can be used simultaneously. Externally, the newcomer is also based on the design of the RG 35XXSP and is thus very reminiscent of the Game Boy Advance SP. It is also foldable and therefore easy to carry in your pocket. While the predecessor included emulation of over 20 popular game consoles, the successor is said to have more than 30.
Otherwise, only minor innovations
Under the hood, Anbernic has made smaller technical adjustments: the 3.5-inch IPS display integrated into the 35-inch RG with a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels has been swapped for a slightly smaller 3.4-inch panel, which now has a slightly higher resolution of 720 × 480 pixels. Initial information indicates that the Allwinner H700 SOC with four Cortex-A53 cores and a G31 GPU was also used in the new model. Information on memory size is not yet available; the predecessor has 1 GB of RAM, and the required operating system was loaded using the 64 GB memory card.
Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 5 are also included, along with support for streaming. Older games with lower resolutions should be able to be played on the new handheld with a triple mount. Via the HDMI output, the RG 34XXSP can also be connected to monitors or TVs and transformed into a small console using the Bluetooth controller. Thanks to the numerous supported video and audio formats, the handheld can also be used as a media player.
Publication and pricing unknown
Anbernic has not yet provided a price or exact launch date. However, since the new model differs only slightly from the already mentioned RG 35XXSP, which is currently available for around 100 euros from various online retailers, the price of the newcomer is expected to be in a similar range. The handheld is expected to be offered in the four “nostalgic” colors of yellow, gray, black, and indigo. THEMEN: Retro Gaming Source: Anbernic
