Geometric Future Model 5: Glass Case Shows Design Potential 67 comments

Playing with rectangular shapes is Geographic Future’s trademark. The new Model 5 also breaks the “standard design” and shows that a glass case still has considerable design potential.
The Model 5 is only known by its glass box structure. There are two bedrooms behind a corner window, with the ‘fancy’ components in the large one on the left. However, the power supply is not placed behind the main board in the case, but directly on the front. So that the cables and power sources are not visible, the company builds a rectangular box around it, which also houses the I/O ports.
This also influences the fan layout, as the right side panel only accommodates a single fan which, according to the manufacturer, is supposed to blow air. Additional fans not only fit the base, lid and back of the tower. There is also room for two fans at the rear, which is divided into two zones. They blow air out the back of the motherboard and through the cable routing channels. Radiators can be used up to a size of 420mm.

Unusual in details too
There is room for hard drives in two brackets on the right side of the case. The Model 5 also offers two unusual features. The first is a “display platform” that can be placed above the side fan and is intended to concentrate its airflow towards the GPU. In addition, as Geometry Future shows, it serves to place a decorative object inside the Model 5.
The GPU bracket is also not just a bracket. If no PCB needs to be protected against bending, it can accommodate a fan or be placed as a color accent to the left of the motherboard to cover the cable glands. Such solutions are not unusual for the Geometry Future; In the Model 8 (test) it was a suspended graphics card and leather.
At the “normal” price
Despite its own design approach and additional elements, the price of the Model 5 remains in the usual range. Without a fan, the manufacturer gives a suggested retail price of about $110 in gray/black, yellow/black, white, and green/black; with five 140mm fans, the Model 5 costs about $150.
