Noctua NM-IMB8: Mounting Bridge Moves NH-D15 G2 Over Intel Hotspot

With the NM-IMB8, Noctua introduced an offset mounting bridge that lowers the temperature of 9 285k or Core Ultra 7 265k processors by up to 3 Kelvin, provided that Noctua’s top model is used in the HBC version. The CPU cooler is moved over the hotspot by the mounting bridges.

The position correction should account for the 3K temperature difference.

The mounting bridges for the LGA1851 socket move the heatsink or its contact surface on the socket by 3.7 mm to the north and 2 mm to the east. The heatsink must be exactly above the typical hot spot temperature of the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and Ultra 7 265K. According to Noctua, the increased pressure at this point should reduce CPU temperatures by 3 Kelvin, provided the HBC variant of the NH-D15 G2 is used. In the standard version, it is still 1 Kelvin, as Noctua describes in a background article. According to Noctua, the standard variant is the recommended model for most users due to its overall performance.

Of course, standard mounting bridges are no longer used when using the NM-IMB8 mounting bridges. However, their spacers and screws are required for assembly.

Available for contribution towards expenses

The NM-IMB8 assembly bridge for Intel’s LGA1851 base can be ordered using a corresponding form for €3.90 or via for €4.90. According to Noctua, this only covers part of the shipping and handling costs. The emphasizes that these assembly bridges are only compatible with the cooler NH-D15 G2 CPU in all three variants, as well as the NH-D12L, NH-L12S, NH-L 12SX77, and NH-L12 Ghost S1 CPU models.
